Anglepoise

Città is proud to be New Zealand’s sole distributor of Anglepoise. The iconic British brand has been lighting the world since 1932 and is characterised by its charming balanced-arm design.

The design was conceptualised when vehicle engineer George Carwardine invented a spring that combined flexibility with stability. The spring supported pivoting arms and responded to the most delicate touch. Two years later, the first Anglepoise lamp was created. The form has achieved iconic status—featuring in design museums, gracing Royal Mail stamps, and inspiring many artists.
