Sustainability
At Città, we are increasingly mindful of the environmental and social challenges our planet faces. By recognising the impact our business can have, we are committed to implementing changes that prioritise the well-being of our planet and its people. Sustainability at Città
We have built strong relationships with like-minded suppliers who consider their environmental and social responsibility. Many of these enduring relationships span decades, with regular visits over the years.
Furthermore, we prioritise the use of natural materials derived from renewable origins. As part of this commitment, we have eliminated polyester from all bedding products.
Our packaging practices are designed to minimise environmental impact by avoiding single-use plastic. Where possible, we opt for cardboard or reusable cotton bags.
We remain dedicated to continuous improvement, consistently challenging ourselves and striving for improvement.
Good Design Takes Time
In recent years, we have made a conscious decision to move away from seasonal releases. By refining our product range and reducing the frequency of launches, we have prioritised thoughtful, considered designs.
The slower, more intentional approach is celebrated by Città founder and CEO Margot Acland. “Over the last few years, we have refined our product offering—both in design and quality,” explains Margot.
“Stepping back from the traditional seasonal approach allows us more time to create lasting products. We want to ensure they will be cherished by our customers for life.”
GoodWeave
A selection of our jute rugs and wool mats bear the prestigious GoodWeave label—an internationally recognised certification that guarantees the highest level of craftsmanship, quality, and industry integrity.
This certification ensures the well-being of weavers by adhering to fair labour standards and providing safe working conditions. To comply with the standards of the GoodWeave certification, there is a zero-tolerance policy against child or forced labour, while also meticulously documenting workplace conditions.
OEKO-TEX
Linen is a natural fabric made from the fibres of the flax plant. It is one of the most sustainable fibres in the world—it requires no irrigation or pesticides and has zero wastage.
Our linen sheets, duvets, robes, and napkins utilise OEKO-TEX-certified linen sourced from Belgium and France. The international certification ensures the fabric is free from harmful chemicals and completely safe for human use.
Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®)
The Forest Stewardship Council® is an international, non-profit organisation that sets standards to ensure forestry is practised in an environmentally responsible and socially beneficial way.
In FSC® forestry, no more wood is felled than the forest can naturally reproduce. Therefore, FSC® helps to protect forests from deforestation and the animals and ecosystems within.
By using FSC®-certified material, we know the wood in our furniture comes from well-managed forests and originates from sustainable and legal sources. It also ensures the people who work within the entire supply chain are treated fairly and ethically.
